Hello everyone! Breakfast is the best to go out and eat and Leslie Knopp and Ron Swanson know best! There are many locations in Disneyland to get breakfast. I enjoy getting breakfast when either friends and family are visiting and just going with friends that have annual passes. Also, breakfast is usually cheaper than lunch and dinner at the parks. Here is a wrap up of some breakfast spots at Disneyland.
Carnation Cafe: $$
Carnation Cafe is my favorite restaurant to get breakfast at. It is a semi-pricey, reasonable priced restaurant in Disneyland park in Disneyland Resort. It is located on Main Street U.S.A. and is pretty small. It opened in 1955 and was remodeled from the original building in the late 1990's. Their food is American and have warm, comfort food. For breakfast, they have the traditional breakfast food, but it's very good and high quality. Their more popular breakfast food are the Oscar's All American Breakfast platter featuring eggs, potatoes, and sausage or bacon, the iconic Mickey shaped waffle, and their eggs benedict. It's inspired by their long time mastered chef, Oscar Martinez, who worked at Carnation Cafe when Disneyland opened its doors in 1955.
The mickey-shaped waffle is my favorite breakfast food to eat at Disneyland because it's so good and warm to eat and is large enough to eat and be full. There are also options for strawberry and apple toppings and they are very good with the waffle. Also, they have a vegan mickey waffle.
Plaza INN: $$
The Plaza Inn is located right off of Main Street USA in Disneyland, on the way to Tomorrowland on the right. It is a quick service Buffett style restaurant and is very good. However, for the character breakfast you have to make reservations for it. I went one time on the weekend of my 21st birthday and it was very fun! You go inside and check in then go to the buffet that had mini mickey waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, fruit, and potatoes. They also had dessert in the center aisle for the sweet tooth people. Then you pay and pick a spot to sit and characters come up to you during breakfast. The characters that are typically there are Minnie Mouse, Tigger, Alice in Wonderland characters like Alice and Mad Hatter, and Peter Pan characters like Peter and Captain Hook. The food is pretty good, but isn't special. The view is fun because you can watch people in the park going towards the castle and the castle is not far at all from the Plaza Inn. And the aesthetic of the Plaza Inn is so cute and fantasy like for the character breakfast!
Flo's V8 Cafe: $-$$
Flo's Cafe is so cute and very on with their retro 50s diner theme! It's in Cars Land in California Adventure park at the Disneyland resort! You can sit inside and outside and it is a quick service restaurant. You order, got to the counter to wait for your food to be prepared, and then can sit wherever you want. The restaurant is SOO cute and is from the movie franchise Cars so its on point with tis theme with the bright colors, retro signs, and cute props from the Pixar movie franchise. Also, you can sit inside and outside by the fake gas pumps and have an amazing view of the Radiator Races attraction!
I've only eaten there once for breakfast and I got the American breakfast with eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes. I really want to try their Brioche French Toast and their cute mini waffles that have the shape of Lightening McQueen on them!
Goofy's Kitchen: $$
Goofy's Kitchen is a popular character dining restaurant at the Disneyland Resort! It's located inside the Disneyland Hotel at Downtown Disney and is very large! I've gone there a couple of times and it's a lot of fun! I think it's reservation only but they have a very good breakfast buffet. You are first greeted by Goofy dressed in a chef outfit and can take a picture with him and buy the picture when you get your check after eating! Then you sit at a table and go to the buffet and some of the Fab Five characters and a couple of random characters come up to your table to talk to you! Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and the Chipmunks are dressed in chef outfits and look adorable! I've also seen Baloo from the Jungle Book and Rafiki from the Lion King there.
The breakfast is a standard buffet with mickey waffles, an egg station, potatoes, cereals, pastries, and Mac and cheese... yes for breakfast! The food is pretty good, similar to the Plaza Inn's buffet. I'd check it out if you're celebrating someone's birthday because of the fun atmosphere!
Storytellers Cafe: $$
This is my favorite character dining experience at the Disneyland Resort! Storytellers Cafe is inside the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa at Downtown Disney and its theme is rustic, woodsy, and cabin like. This hotel is already beautiful, but Storytellers Cafe is so gorgeous with its charm and western artwork around the restaurant of forrest animals and cowboys. It's the same concept of Goofy's Kitchen where you meet characters when they walk around to your table. The characters that you meet there are Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and the chipmunks and they're dressed up in wilderness outfits! Kenai from Brother Bear used to be there but he's not there anymore and I'm disappointed.
The food is soooo good at Storytellers! It's a buffet style and the food is very good and warm. There are Mickey waffles, eggs station, pastries, cereal, bacon and sausages, quiche, and good drinks. You can also order alcohol drinks there, like mimosas! There's also small plastic bags of cereal milk to drink and they're super yummy and a fun idea! I've had Coco Pebbles milk, Fruit Loop milk, and Frosted Flakes milk and they're all vey good! There are also good lemonades and juices to to get like watermelon and mint.
STarbucks and Disneyland Donut Stand: $
There are 4 Starbucks locations on the Disneyland Resort: one in each park and two in Downtown Disneyland and you know everyone loves Starbucks! Starbucks also use the Annual Passholder discount and you can use the Starbucks app there too!
There's also a really good donut and coffee cart in Disneyland Park in-between Fantasyland and Frontierland on Main Street USA and they have gourmet, decorated donuts!! I've gotten a donut once there and it was the hyped, but delicious Dole Whip inspired pineapple filled donut!! Donuts are priced around $6.50 and they do not accept AP discount.
Thanks for reading today's post! Disneyland has top-notch service, great food, and fun experiences so if you have the opportunity to go to Disneyland, please do!
