hey everyone! Festival season is above us and here comes all the basic social media posts! I don’t care though because I’m apart of it 💁🏼♀️ One dof the largest music festivals in the world, Coachella, starts this weekend in Indio, CA and people are going crazy for it! Thousands of people attend it every year and it is a fashion destination too! This will be my third year attending so I’ve known a couple of essentials to pack for it. It depends on either if you’re camping on site or staying off site in a hotel or house. These are your handy essentials for surviving Coachella!
Definitely bring some of these. Palm Springs area is the desert of California so they get windy storms often. Check the weather when you go but just take one or two for the weekend so when it’s dusty outside during a show or walking around, you can cover your nose and mouth to not get dust. Bandanas can also be a cute fashion accessory!
You can purchase bandanas at any $1 Tree or even at Hobby Lobby for super cheap and with a wide variety of colors!
Fun fact..one time two guys bought my friend and I’s Hobby Lobby bandanas off of his and bought us Coachella themed ones in return!
Fanny paCk/Small Bag
These bags are a necessity if you want to carry your own essentials with you! I’ve carried a fanny pack the past two years and thought I used it a lot. I purchased mine from Tillys. I’ve seen some super cute fanny packs that are leather and studded from Forever 21 and online shops! You can definitely style a fanny pack with your outfits.
Also, a mini backpack could be a good idea too since they’re small and can hold a lot of stuff. I would just suggest to not have a bulky one because it could make it difficult for you to be in a large crowd during a show.
Water is such an important thing at festivals!!! It gets super hot at Coachella since you’re in the desert and watching and dancing at shows, so pack an empty water bottle. You cannot bring glass or cans into the festival so I would suggest like a cantine or just a regular plastic water bottle.
Medicine/Femine products/hygeine products
bring medicine and hygiene stuff please! People get sweaty and cranky at festivals. Incase you get a headache, bring Tylenol or ibuprofen. Incase it’s your time of month, bring tampons and pads. Incase you’re stinky and need to freshen up, bring mini deodorant. These things can be small and can fit in your bags.
Also, they do have an emergency/nurse area incase you don’t feel well and need medical attention. They will be located on site.
Coachella is an opportunity to bring out your inner 'flower child' or 'raver' and to go outside of your comfort zone for your outfits! I love putting my outfits together! The only terrible thing about this is trying to find the stuff that you specifically want. It takes me so long to find a certain top or shorts for it. One tip is to use the app Dote to look up certain items like a romper or a certain color of top. Then the app will go through all these stores like forever 21, top shop, Free People, and others and narrow down the searches to help you out.
For my past outfits, I go for simple and comfortable!! They're long days there so I go for outfits that I know I feel confident and comfortable in. I even just wear sandals and converse sneakers there because I know that I'll be comfortable in them. I've purchased outfits from Forever 21, Windsor, and Macy's.
You're going to always be on your phone at the festival, recording shows, taking pictures, and keeping contact with friends! Save yourself the hassle and bring a portable charger for your phone!
Keep your hands clean from germs and dirt at the festival and bring yourself one of these.
An Open MInd
There are going to be soooo many artists and shows happening over the weekend and there's not enough time to see them ALL. I would say to have a list of a couple of artists that you have to see, but have an open mind that you're not going to be able to see them all and just to see a couple. If you can't see one show, go see another one to make it up to yourself. You'll never know if you see your new favorite artist there because you missed one that you couldn't see. Coachella is supposed to be a fun experience and shouldn't be the end of the world if you can't see a certain artist. HAVE FUN!
So who’s going to a music festival this year?🙋🏼♀️ I’m going to weekend 2 of Coachella and REALLY wishing I was at Coachella weekend 1 with my all my friends right now!
Be safe and have fun at your music festivals this year!
