Getting to know 'For The Love Of Blank' Jordyn & All About Oregon

Picture
Hello everyone! Meet Jordyn, who's one half of the travel and food based blog "For The Love of Blank"! I've known Jordyn and her best friend who shares the blog, Brittany, since high school and they're such sweet girls! Jordyn and I decided to partner up and do guest posts on our blogs. Their blog is so cute, creative, and it has to do with two of my favorite things to do! Go follow them on social medias and their blog! They totally deserve everything great coming their way!
I’m Jordyn! I’m a twenty- something mom that is a hairstylist/blogger. Earlier this year my long time best friend and I decided to start For The Love of Blank, a food, wine and travel blog.

Background where you live now and the atmosphere (what you like and dislike about Oregon). What about Washington? Favorite part of living in the West Coast/ Oregon?
I live in Eugene, OR with my husband Dallas our two dogs and our crazy toddler son Noah. However, my husband and I are originally from Idaho, and my son was born in Colorado. We moved to Eugene last summer, and have mixed feelings so far. My favorite part about the community is how active and family friendly the city is, but I thought it was a little bigger than it actually is. Good thing Portland is a quick drive away! The weather is a little rough here in the winter, but the summers are gorgeous! We haven’t yet been up to Washington since moving here, but from past experiences I really like Seattle and Spokane.

Heard of any misconceptions about Oregon and the West Coast?
I heard it never snows… It snowed a couple of times this Winter that lead to terrible ice storms. Wasn’t expecting that, but hey it was like an inch of snow!

What advice would you give to new visitors in Oregon?
Get out and be active to get the full experience. Oregon is also very big on local, so try all the local crafts. We have great ciders, wine, micro brews, crops and restaurants.

Favorite place you've travelled to?

In Oregon my favorite place is Cannon Beach! It was beautiful! Over all the places I have ever been, a toss up between Disneyland (of course) and Cancun. Depending on what types of vacation you are looking for, these two have never disappointed me.

Dream vacation?

Barcelona!!! I want to go to Spain so badly. Another Trip in the US I would really like to visit is New Orleans! Mostly I just want to eat all the food there. I’m such a foodie. This list could go on and on, so I’ll stop there.

Favorite restaurant and/or bar in Oregon?

We really like a local cafe here called “The Glenwood,” they are only open for breakfast and lunch but I have never had anything bad there. You can even get a mimosa! My favorite!

Popular Events?

Oregon Country Fair is HUGE each July in Veenta right outside of Eugene. A big event for me personally was Corgi Beach Day, that was also this year in July. This year Oregon was in the path of totality for the Eclipse, so hundreds of thousands of people were here for that!

What's it like doing a blog with your best friend and what's your favorite quality about her?

When I first thought about starting my own blog, I was a little stressed about how much work it would be. I wanted to share the responsibility with someone else that would also help me be accountable. I thought that my friend Brittany would be the best choice. We have been friends since the 7th grade and she went to school for marketing. She also loves food wine and travel just as much as me! Its great running For the Love of Blank together because of the shared responsibility but is also difficult since we live in two different states. We FaceTime once a week to discuss what is happening in the next week, our goals, and what happened last week.
My favorite quality about her is that she is so positive and we can share in our excitement in getting so many page views a month, or followers on Instagram. I don’t think I could do this without her to be honest.

My Favorite Places in Oregon So Far
Written by: Jordyn Galan
'For the Love of Blank' blog

Last August 31st my little family and I moved to Eugene, Oregon. So far, my husband and I had lived in Idaho and Colorado only. Deciding to check another state off our list we came here!
While we lived in Denver, I never took advantage of the area I was in and where I could travel to quickly. I regretted that as soon as I left. Not wanting to make that mistake twice I have developed my list of places I must see in Oregon before we move again!
In the last year I have visited a lot of the places on my list and these were my favorites!
Picture
Lincoln City
We stayed at a VRBO in Lincoln City for a week this summer and it was amazing! The house was incredible. We could see the ocean from our bedroom and even hear the waves crashing! The beaches are incredible in this area of the coast! They host a kite festival every summer that is spectacular!
The small coastal town of Lincoln City has a cute downtown with many shops and boutiques. There is even a Casino if you're feeling lucky!

Cannon Beach
(Corgi Beach Day)

This summer I made my dream come true and attended a Corgi Beach Day in Cannon Beach! We even found a cute dog friendly burger place that was amazing! Ruby's Roadside Grill <http://www.rubysroadsidegrill.com> was the place and their Crab cake sliders were beyond delicious! Not only was the food and swarm of corgis on the beach amazing, but the town was adorable. Also the coast line was by far the best views I have seen in Oregon so far.

Oregon Coast Aquarium
Nessled in the historic coastal town of Newport, Oregon is one of the best Aquariums I have personally been to, and I have been to a lot! They had a huge touch pool area, seals, shark tanks, and an exhibit on ship wrecks that I learned so much from. To read my full post on the Oregon Coast Aquarium click here <https://www.fortheloveofblank.com/oregon-coast-aquarium/>. I definitely recommend a stop here if you are ever in Oregon!

Spencer's Butte
Not particularly that Spencer's Butte is my favorite place in Oregon, but I love all the hiking in Oregon! Everything is so green and beautiful here. A short hike's distance away is always a breathtaking view. I love that everyone is so active here as well! On your hike you will see multiple single hikers, couples, and families hiking right along side you.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Jordyn from the blog 'For the Love of Blank' blog! Please go follow Jordyn and Brittany on their blog 'For the Love of Blank"!
