The first ever Oogie Boogie Bash 2019

Picture
Hey friends! I love going to the halloween parties at Disneyland so this year I just had to go to the first ever Oogie Boogie's halloween bash in California Adventure! It was so much fun and had so much to do there and see! I loved it and felt like it was very spread out to do everything. Take a look what I think of the party and what's to do there.

Party information

Picture
Oogie Boogie's Halloween bash is a special individual ticketed event that is held in California Adventure on certain days in the months of September and October! The days that it's held are Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The last one is Halloween night and it starts at 6 pm and ends at 11pm! If you are going to the event, you may enter into California Adventure starting at 3 pm! You also do get a free small plastic treat bag to use for the treat trails! You may also bring your own treat bags to use! There are 3 shows to see, treat trails to go through, a light show walk through area, character meet and greets, and exclusive merchandise!

To me, it seems like there are less people at the party and being at California Adventure made it seem larger and more spread out!

Costumes

Picture
YES you can dress up in costume for the parties, however Disneyland has rules for costumes and what not wear! There are also age restrictions for certain things!
Disneyland Costume Rules
People dress up sooo good and create amazing customer for these parties! There are a ton of family or group costumes too and thats my favorite thing to see there!
Sometimes I wear a costume but this year my mom and I wore Hocus Pocus themed outfits and they were very cute! Here's a list of links where everything is from if available!
  • Etsy- Lesky Deisgn- HOCUS POCUS "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU"
  • Etsy- 'It's Hocus Pocus time witches" (similar)
  • Shop Disney- Minnie Mouse WITCH SEQUINED EAR HEADBAND (SOLD OUT ONLINE, BUT AVAILABLE AT PARKS)
  • Target- Witch hat, found in dollar section (similar)

Decorations & trick or treat trails

Picture
Disney parks go ALL OUT for decorating for holidays! The decorations in California Adventure is based on dark colors like purple, black, and green and is a different vibe than Disneyland's pumpkin and brighter color theme. This sign at the top of the California Adventure entrance is Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas infront of a full moon (it looks like a tortilla in the day)! Everything is so eery and cool at night with the lights lit up!

Every year in the Grand Californian resort they put up a gingerbread house during the holidays and this year for halloween they put up a lifesize, massive sculpture of Ooogie! It's so cool!
Picture
A main part of the Oogie Boogie Halloween bash is the trick or trails and they are very immersive and cool!! This year they include the main villains in them and you can see them and they can talk to you! It's not a meet and greet where you get exclusive time with them. This just make it so more people can see those villains and they can be involved in the treat trails! This also helps with theming for some treat trails! For instance, Oogie has him own treat trail in the animation trail that is themed to him and Nightmare Before Christmas movie!! This one was probably my favorite trail to go in!!
PLUS, you get SOOOOOOO much candy and snacks!!

One treat trail to go on was to meet Evil Queen in the Grizzly Rapids area and it was very cool to see and talk to her!

Frightfully Fun Parade

Picture
This parade is so cute, short, and fun! It includes the main villains, Mickey and Minnie in cute costumes, and has some other fun spooky characters! They feature 2 Nightmare Before Christmas floats and they're really cool! The parade also features a Haunted Mansion float too with the three hitch hiking ghosts!! This parade was in Mickey's Halloween party in Disneyland too and they brought it to this party as well.

Villanious! World of Color Show

Picture
This was probably my favorite show of the party! I've always loved World of Color shows and this one included obviously all the villains and it was done pretty well! The show adds a story line as well to tie in all of the characters. There are 3 viewings for this show and you do not need a fast pass to see this!

Villanious Grove

Picture
Villanious Grove is GORGEOUS!!! This was a lightship walk through that featured a couple of villas themes but it was a beautiful, spooky vibe of lights and special effects. My favorite part was this cave walk through with the twinkle lights and fog, so pretty!!!

Meet Characters

Picture
What's the sitch!? SO cool to see special characters out for this event! I've never seen Ron and Kim in the parks even when they're show was on Disney Channel! They were awesome to interact with!
Picture
YES Kingdom Hearts characters were there!!! I heard the line to meet either Goofy or Donald is usually CRAZY LONG so when we saw Goofy's line was short at the beginning of the party we jumped in line! SO cool to see!!

Downtime: Food, Attractions, and Shopping

THE FOOD!!!! There were no new exclusive food or drinks for the party, however there are special ones for Halloween/fall time! So I took this night as an opportunity to try some new ones I've been DYING to try!
Picture
Minnie Witch Mint ice cream milkshake- Schmoozies
This was soo good!!! it's a mint ice cream milk shake with whip cream, M&Ms, Oreo cookies, sprinkles, and a white chocolate Minnie bow!!! The milkshake was not too thick and it was easy and amazing to drink! We shared it and it was SUPER GOOD!
Picture

Spiked Hard Apple Cider Float- Clarabelle's Ice Cream
THIS DRINK IS EVERYTHING. This is served at Clarabelle's ice cream parlor in California Adventure and it is only served during Halloween time. It's basically an Angry Orchard spiked apple cider beer with a green apple sherbet ball on a popsicle stick with Carmel drizzle! Ugh it's a cold, sweet drink to have and I can't wait til it comes back!
